Sept. 17 (Bloomberg) -- Apple Inc. said pre-orders of its iPhone 5 topped 2 million units in one day, more than double the sales record set by the previous model iPhone 4S.
Because demand for the iPhone 5 exceeds the initial supply, some pre-orders will be delivered to customers in October, rather than September as previously planned, Cupertino, California-based Apple said today in a statement. Most orders will be delivered on Sept. 21, Apple said.
The latest estimate comes from Piper Jaffray's Gene Munster, who in a note to investors today says that at best Apple will move 8 million to 10 million iPhones, and at worst, 6 million.
I still remembered Apple nearly went bust at one stage. Now, they are one of the most, if not, the most successful company in the world. What a twist in events...
Well done, iPhone 5. Well done, Apple.
